Why Sales Are So Important

Sales are super important, right? You might be thinking “Jo, everyone knows sales are important, we get it!”, and you would think that, because as business owners we wouldn’t have a business without sales.

But I’ve seen and heard of so many business owners and people in the community who don’t even talk about who they are, what they offer and how they help people. It seems crazy obvious but so many people actually forget to talk about it!

For example I might go on someone’s social media, and they’re sharing their life and what they’re up to, which is great! But their products and services are actually nowhere to be seen. How can you expect to sell anything if you don’t talk about what you do, and share your knowledge of the industry?

So with that in mind, let’s look at why sales are so important.

  • Opportunity for retainers

Creating positive sales experiences for your customers and clients is going to leave a long-lasting impact on them. Here, you'll get the opportunity to nurture that relationship and encourage repeat purchase. The more retainer clients you get, the more sustainable income you’ll have coming into your business, which of course is what we want.

  • The potential recession

I’ve talked a lot about the potential recession recently. In fact, there’s actually an episode of my podcast on it. Anyway, one thing I'm super big on at the moment is that you can't save your way out of a recession, or uncertainty for that matter. So with a potential recession looming over, now more than ever is the time to be as cash-heavy as possible. We need to get creative, and come up with new ways to generate sales and create revenue streams.

  • More revenue streams

Cash is king, right?! In any business, cash-flow is super important. I mean like I said earlier, without it you probably wouldn't have a business. That's why you need to create multiple revenue streams so you can continue to invest in your business. I’m talking about investing in training for your team, investing in the right education and knowledge, investing in mentorship or coaching, all things that can help you grow your business.

  • Problem solving

By selling, you’re using your product or service to solve problems or meet particular needs of the customer or client, which is amazing! That’s half the reason a lot of us started our businesses, right? To make an impact and help others. Also, these sales will help potential clients and customers see that you can meet their needs, which will encourage them to buy from you.

  • Business growth

Sales will help build trust between you and your audience. Again, if you give the buyer a positive sales experience, they’ll be more likely to recommend you to people they know and even leave you a good review. Through this, positive word of mouth will start to spread about your business which will help grow your business. After all, people buy from people, so word of mouth is super important and incredibly effective.

Do you see why Sales are so important?

I can’t stress how important it is to talk about yourself, talk about what you do and how you help people. Talk about the impact that you make and how your business does it. Talk about what you offer and what problems your business solves.

I’ve said it multiple times and I’ll say it again! Without sales, we have no business. So get creative, start thinking of ways to generate sales and bring in more streams of income.
