I believe, without a shadow of a doubt that each and everyone of us have limiting beliefs. Beliefs that we have formed on our own or that have been thrown upon us by other people.
These limiting beliefs can prevent us from doing something, they can make us continue doing something even though we know its is not beneficial to us and they more often than not stop us moving forward in life even when we want to, more than anything else in the world.
There are many limiting beliefs that people hold on to, they could be about; themselves, other people, ambitions, capabilities, permissions, situations, opportunities, judgements, money, relationships, emotions, the list really does go on and on and on, but you get the picture.
I can pretty much guarantee that not a single limiting belief that you or anyone around you have is useful, in fact it is probably deliberating and frustrating as it is useless.
For years I have told myself a number of different things that have stopped me trying/doing things.
Two of these things are;
I cannot draw and I cannot run.
Well today I ran for 10 minutes on the treadmill without stopping AND last weekend I spent some time with my daughter one on one and used her ‘Learn how to draw’ book to draw this little cutie below.
Neither of these things ‘JUST’ happened, it was an accumulation of small things that helped,.
Step by step, no matter how small those steps are will help you go in the right direction, even when they are not ‘perfect’ steps.
What are/were your limiting beliefs and how did/will you overcome them??
