Figuring out what Success in Business means for YOU!

Struggling to figure out what success means for you?

Like everything in life, figuring out what success in business mean for you is a process. Having a clear vision for your business is essential when first starting up your business. Not only that but throughout your career as well! Success is completely subjective, which simply means each individuals idea of success is different, based on what they want in life, and what their goals are.

But figuring out exactly what success means for you isn’t always as easy as it may seem. There may be a lot of barriers holding you back from reaching for your dreams and being able to consciously realise what you really want.

The process is different for each person! But there are a few tips I can give you that will help you figure out what you want from your business, and what your dream life is.

  1. Map out your goals

Realising and mapping out your goals and aspirations is the first step you need to take. Think about what you want to achieve, and what you need to do to make this happen! I’ve written a whole blog on how to properly set out your goals, which you can find here.

Mapping out your goals is incredibly important. It ensures that you have a vision for your business, which will allow you to recognise exactly what it is you need to do to achieve your aspirations. Additionally this means that if something doesn’t go to plan, you’ll be able to rationally solve the problem and adapt to the situation, because you can ALWAYS find another route to your goals. It’s not like if one plan doesn’t work out then that’s it. There are multiple routes and pathways you can take to get to where you want to be!

Take a look at my shop to see the different planners I have available for purchase, pick one that’s right for you!

  1. Recognise what makes you happy

What makes you happy? That can be a difficult question to answer. To recognise what makes you happy and what brings you the most joy out of life isn’t always easy. For some people they may have always known, but depending on your circumstances you may find it quite difficult to identify what makes you feel good. So take some time, start a list! You don’t have to think of everything at once. But try thinking of at least one thing a day that you enjoy, or something that you’re grateful for. Gratitude is a really great way to keep yourself grounded and in the right direction. It helps you recognise what you love and what you’re grateful for, no matter how big or small!

Through this you’ll be able to become familiar with what brings you pleasure. It with help motivate you to work on your business so you can live your desired life. With a clear vision of your business, and aspirations to work towards, you’ll be able to start figuring out what success in business means for you, but also what personal success means for you too.

  1. Start to prioritise yourself

After mapping out your goals, and further identifying what makes you happy, it’s key to begin prioritising yourself! Becoming self-full will help you allow yourself to work for what YOU want, and not for what others want. It’s a process that doesn’t come easily to all, but if you consciously give yourself permission to put your needs first, you’ll be able to grow personally and eventually you’ll naturally come to consider your own feelings before others.

Once you’re able to begin to become self-full and start to put yourself first, you’ll be able to work towards those goals you’ve set much more efficiently. It’s going to massively motivate you to strive for what you want in life. Not only is it beneficial professionally, but as you get to this point, I can assure you your going to feel so much better in yourself and get a lot more joy out of your life just because of the fact you’re finally doing what makes you happy. It’s incredibly rewarding. Don’t let other people’s emotions and the way they live your life affect you.

  1. Own your choices

Getting this far throughout this process is a great thing, and you should be proud. Now’s the time to own your choices. The choices that you make should be made for YOU. Yes, it’s important to think about other people, this is why I use the term ‘self-full’ rather than selfish. But decisions you make should be based on what makes you happy! Make sure they are going to be beneficial and help you progress personally and professionally.

So, you’ve figured out what makes you happy, you know what your goals are, and you’re beginning to put yourself first. Now you’ve got to own your choices by simply TAKING ACTION! Prove to yourself that you’re proud of the choices you’ve made by implementing what’s needed to achieve your goals. Do this for YOU, not to make someone else happy.

  1. Embrace your feelings

If you’ve been following these tips, you’re doing amazing. You’ve mapped out your goals, identified what makes you happy, began to prioritise yourself, and owned your choices! Now you need to embrace your feelings. Feelings are totally natural, and it’s common to feel you have to suppress these to make other people happy. But as I’ve said, feelings are NATURAL. You can’t help the way you feel, so being able to accept your feelings towards certain things and not let other people’s emotions change yours is a huge part of this process.

Give yourself permission to feel. Embrace these feelings by throwing yourself into new opportunities and pushing yourself to strive for success! I’ve said this a lot, but it’s true, and it’s so important that we recognise this and do what makes us happy.

If you don’t throw yourself into something you’ll never know what you could’ve had!

So, what does success mean for you?

Hopefully these tips have helped you in figuring out what success in business means for you, as well as personal success too! I hope I’ve given you a bit of a clearer direction on how to get the process started and develop your ‘self-fullness’!

It’s important to remember that this isn’t all going to happen overnight, like everything in life, it’s a process. Be patient, and give yourself permission to prioritise yourself and strive for what YOU want in life!
Keep practising the process, and as you grow and learn more about yourself, everything will being to come much clearer to you, allowing you to really progress, professionally and personally.
